2 years ago...Kacey getting blood work done. We have to do this every 6 months to make sure things are staying "normal". We go to the Endo every 3 months for a check on her diabetes.

Ornapods
We were blessed with ornapods by The Houston Family. The pods are what is left from the Omnipod after a site change.

Kacey's meter is hooked to her insulin pump and the meter talks to the pump and shows right up on the front screen.

First stick wasn't enough blood to test...Second stick was too much blood!

Site changes involve a lot of throw away trash. This is everything layed out from after a site change.

Cozmo Insulin Cartridge
This is one thing I will miss most about our Cozmo when Kacey switches to Animas. A 300u cartridge! We could hold 250 units in there and she would be good for 3 full days. Animas only holds 200 units.

Novolog Insulin
This little bottle of liquid keeps Kacey alive each and every single day. Without this medication, within a few days she would go into DKA and then into a diabetic coma that would lead to death. Hard fact to accept...but VERY true!

Freestyle Test Strips
Freestyle switched their strips to the new "Butterfly Strips". They are smaller at the tip and take less blood to test.

Fresh Insulin
When a fresh bottle is opened , it is only good for 30 days.

Sometimes the first finger stick doesn't work right away and Kacey is quick to stick her finger again and the first one decides to bleed.
